BSD electric door operator is suitable for any bi-parting sliding industrial door or fire door up to 700 sq. ft. (65m2) in area. It has two quick disconnect arms, spring loaded, which can be disengaged from floor in case of power failure. Fusible links are provided when used with sliding fire doors.

Three Button Control:
Momentary contact type for open, close, stop. Operator may be stopped in any position and door moved in either direction from that position. Close button can be wired for constant pressure when specified. Control circuit 24V AC for users protection.

Adjustable Automatic Friction Clutch:
Will protect door and operator in case of obstruction.

Limit Switches:
Rotary type, with oilite bronze cams and precision micro switches for automatic stopping of door in open and closed positions (easily adjustable without tools).

Reversing Contactor:
Heavy duty type.

Reduction System:
The power unit of this operator utilises a large size V belt (4L) and heavy pulleys for primary reduction, roller chain and steel sprockets for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. Door operating speed approx. 1.0ft (.3m) per second.

Dual Trolley:
Cast aluminium alloy chain driven carriages, slide in dual heavy steel angle tracks, with full No.41 push and pull roller chain, for smooth and quiet operation. In addition, roller spreaders are provided to support trolleys and prevent chain from rubbing.

Quick Release Door Arms:
Quickly disengage operator from doors at floor level (without tools), for manual operation in the event of power failure.
1/3 HP (248.6W), 1/2 HP (373W), 3/4 HP (559.5W), 1 HP (746W), 120V or 240V single phase, 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V or 600V three phase. 1 HP not recommended on single phase motors.

Manual Overload Relay:
For overcurrent and under voltage protection (can be reset manually).

Solenoid Brake:
To prevent door from coasting and for holding in any position.

Headroom Required:
30" (75cm) minimum above door track.

/2 opening width plus 3'6" (90cm) on both sides of door centre line.

Primed with rust-proof primer and spray painted in blue hammertone enamel.


Electrical Control Cabinet:
Factory pre-wired, made from 14 ga. H.R. steel; pre-formed enclosure size 8" x 10" x 5" (20cm x 25cm x 12.5cm) with removable cover for easy service and maintenance. Mounted on unit chassis with four zinc plated steel bolts.

Motor Control:
Heavy duty reversing contactor, two sets of three pole contactors on a common frame, mechanically interlocked to prevent simultaneous closure, clapper-type armature with three point suspension, auxiliary contacts SPDT or DPDT (as required) on each armature, coils 24V AC. Load contact amps, resistive @ 120V AC 15 amps, @ 240V AC 10 amps, @ 600 V AC 5 amps. Terminals .250" (.625cm) quick connect; mechanical life 10 million cycles.

Limit Switches:
Screw type friction free oilite bronze cams, grooved and lock guided in a spring loaded formed galvanised steel plate. Cams are fitted on 5/8" d. x 10-3/4" I. (1.56cm x 26.88cm) C.R. steel shaft with N.F. threads which rotates in lubricated high speed ballbearings. Cams on their preset travel, activate micro switches to cut power of motor control in both open and close directions of doors. Operating force on limit switches 4 oz. (113.4g) maximum, contact separation .020" (.05cm), terminations .250" (.625cm) quick connect.

BSD operators utilise one (4L) V belt, one 1-1/2" (3.75cm) type A cast iron pulley and one 7" (17.5cm) die cast aluminium alloy pulley (both balanced for smooth operation) as primary reduction. Four 41B9 and two 41B23 steel sprockets with RC41 roller chain (all sprockets pinned or keyed on 5/8" (1.56cm) and two 1" (2.5cm) C.R. steel shaft) rotating on four 5/8" (1.56cm) and two 1" (2.5cm) precision lubricated high speed flanged bearings for secondary reduction to the output drive shaft. Door operating speed approx. 1.0ft (.3m) per second.

Unit Chassis:
Formed steel frame assembly is made from 11 ga. C.R. steel reinforced with steel braces and welded together for greater strength. Size 10-1/2" wide x 20" long x 7-1/2" high (26.25cm x 50cm x 18.75cm).

35VA step-down transformer:
  • 120V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.
  • 240V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.
  • 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V, 600V AC primary to 24V AC secondary.
Adjustable Automatic Friction Clutch:
4" (10cm) diameter aluminium disc attached to rotating shaft to one side of which a 4" D. x 1/8" (10cm x .31cm) non-flammable fibre clutch material is applied. One 7" (17.5cm) H.D.V belt pulley, is compressed by means of heavy a heavy compression spring and nylon insert threaded nut. Friction clutch system can be adjusted as easily as required depending on door size and weight. Clutch will protect door and operator in case of obstruction.

Trolley Assembly:
Made from 2" x 2" x 1/8" (5cm x 5cm x .31cm) H.R. steel angles mounted together with 3/8" (9.5mm) H.R. steel rods. Cast aluminium alloy, chain driven carriage, slide between these dual angle tracks with full No.41 or 40 push and pull roller chains, for smooth and friction-free operation. In addition, roller spreaders are provided to support trolleys at centre and prevent chains from rubbing. Two spur gears and sprockets are mounted through 1" shafting to four pillow block bearings and connected to BSD main unit drive giving motion to doors to travel one to the left and one to the right.

Heavy Duty Solenoid Brake:
Made from one 4" (10cm) diameter aluminium alloy drum mounted on keyed motor shaft, lined brake shoes with 360o exterior compressing force, through spring loaded mechanism. Brake drum stops motor when electromagnetic solenoid is deenergized. Mounted on heavy duty steel plate, protected in 14 ga. steel enclosure. Brake mechanism is on the self-adjusting type.

Three Button Control:
Momentary contact type for open, close and stop, fully guarded standard duty 600V AC maximum. Screw type terminals.

Rated for continuous duty (capacitor starting on single phase models) 1/3 HP (248.6W), 1/2 HP (373W), 3/4 H.P. (559.5W) or 1 H.P. (746W), 120V or 240V single phase, 208V, 230V, 416V, 460V or 600V three phase. 1725 RPM, ballbearings permanently lubricated, frame rigid type 56C, shaft 5/8" (2.05cm) diameter. Other voltages available on request. 1 HP not recommended on single phase motors.

Unit is factory pre-wired, colour coded and tagged.
Wiring diagrams are enclosed with each operator.
Operator is pre-run and tested before shipment.
